Currency and cards
Euro is the currency of Greece since 1 January 2001.
All eight of the Greek coins have a different design
which makes them very attractive for collectors.
The designs of the coins was presented by a national
technical and artistic committee for the Minister
for National Economy and the Governor of the Bank
of Greece who choose the designs for their Euro
coins
There should be no problem using your credit card, though all major Credit Cards as well as Euro-cheques are recognized and accepted in most places. All the major international banks have branches in Athens.
