Greece has several food specialities. Souvlaki
with slices off meat lettuce, tomato, onions,
Tsatziki, a garlic sauce in fresh
round pita bread or a Moussaka
with layers of egg-plant, minced meat and potatoes
topped with cheese sauce and made in the oven.
Others are; Lamb, Kokoretsi, Fasolada, Magiritsa,
Stifado, Pastitsio, Dolmades and of course Greek
salad.
Greek Wines
The ancient Greeks revered wine and worshipped
the wine-god Dionysus for his precious gift. Wine
was the inspiration for popular festivals and
sacred rites and ceremonies. Wine has been produced
in Greece for more than thousand years. Its long
history of wine and wine-making have played an
inseparable role in the country's history affairs.
When you taste wine produced in Greece keep in
mind that it is a product of a distinctive environment
and of grape varieties unknown to the western
wine lovers.
Cafes
There are many types of coffee to choose between
in the cafés. Mocha coffee – Water and pure grinded
coffee boiled with sugar, is the most common coffee.
The cafés in Greece are the meeting place for
men. In Greece you can visit a café without ordering
anything. Cafés tend to be crowded with people
just chatting, many of them not eating or drinking.
